what I read for dinner

These are the words that I want on my gravestone: that I was a helper, and that I danced.

-Anne Lamott, Grace (Eventually): Thoughts on Faith

Anne Lamott is so smart and funny and wise, it's sick. I love her. And she lives in the place where I spent my youth, which makes me love her even more.

What are you reading?

I love her quote: 'Books for me are medicine'. Isn't that lovely and so true.

I love her!

I read Bird by Bird recently and it was such a revelation. She is so smart and witty and kind - and her insights into writing were so irreverent and wonderful. I would love to take one of her writing workshops.

I'm so glad you're back! I love that quote -- I want to be a helper too (I think I've got the laughing part down). xo Hope all is well with you, Abbey

I so love Anne Lamott. She's my hero, in such a variety of ways.

Yay! Welcome back!

I love Anne Lammott. I think Operating Instructions is my absolute favorite book of hers. A book that makes you laugh out loud and embarrass yourself against your will, and then have you crying too. She's remarkable.

I saw her in Nordstrom's once in Corte Madera and stood there like a silly person. I was too shy to go over and say hello. But she looks very shy too.
