This sweet, resilient parrot tulip is the last of the hangers-on from the wild bunch of flowers I received for Mother's Day. Its feathered, ripple-edged petals remind me of a fiery flamenco dancer's costume - they also bring to mind the flow and movement of Zena Holloway's underwater spectacles.
Holloway's images are striking, instinctive, driven by a deep (pun acknowledged) understanding of her medium. Holloway has been diving since she was a child. Completely self taught, she delivers the remarkable: combining the highly technical aspects of underwater photography with superb creative direction. Treat yourself to more of Holloway's glorious visions here.
Zena, we - the humble tulip and I - bow to your prowess.

Wow!!! These are spectacular! Thanks so much for sharing these, Diana -- and a belated Happy Mother's Day to you, too!
Lori
You have such a wonderful eye. Brilliant post.
What extraordinary images! I loved your tulip, as well.
Beautiful. This makes me think of Portuguese Man o' War, sitting on the ocean, showing us what real cavorting is.
My eyes needed a break today and these images are absolutely perfect. And as a novice flamenco dancer, I am going to appreciate tulips in a whole new light.
Thank you for this amazing post.
oh. my. gawd. zena's work is incredible ~ i'm completely enchanted!
wow! they are so eerie yet incredibly beautiful! thank you for sharing :)
The second last image is blowing my mind. Wow. Great parallel with the tulip too.
These photos are BRILLIANT! As is your own photo...beautiful!
Also...I got my moleskin a day or two ago and I just wanted to say THANKYOU! I love the postcard, too, and I am keeping it on my bulletin board where all of my other inspirations go.
Oh dear -- if there was a postcard with the Moleskine you sent to me, it's disappeared somewhere along the way (package arrived looking like it had been through the wars). But happily the Moleskine made it -- so thank you so much again!
Lori
P.S. I've just emailed you, too.
These images are so ethereal...they remind me a bit of Maxfield Parrish. Lovely!
